The man with the briefcase is an internet hacker who has created a piece of software that is a breakthrough in internet hacking, in which he has been using to hack many important government projects. He has been tracked down by the London Police and is taken to the US for a trial, and cotainment of the software. But as he is flying to the US, with a police escort, the plane 'malfunctions' and crashes. He then wakes up in hospital and the briefcase is gone, aswell as his police escort. He then has to use his knowledge of hacking and underground crime operations to track down the people who stole the briefcase, due to a deal being made with him and the Police force (if he tracks them down, he goes free).
The plane crash will be at the begining (which is a flash forward) before flashing back to him creating and using the software, getting arrested, and then being on the plane, where the film goes from there through the plot until the end.
